Sport fishing in Frontera
Located on the banks of the Grijalva River, very close to its mouth in the Gulf of Mexico. Frontera is an important port and fishing center, where snook, mojarra and shrimp are exploited.
An interesting visit that proposes the city is its Museum of the Navigation Jorge Priego Martinez, that protects the historical patrimony of Frontera in the referred thing to the nautical activity and, in its four rooms, exhibits weapons, fishing tools, rudders, telescopes and other instruments of navigation.
The Grijalva River that flows into Frontera, also known as the Mezcalapa River, is 600 km long. The privileged location of the city of Frontera, between the Grijalva River and the Golf of Mexico makes it a special place for sport fishing.
Sport fisherman Eduardo Steffanoni comments on fishing the Grijalva River;
"On this fishing trip we managed to catch tarpon weighing up to seven kilos, and as incredible as it may seem, my partner Juan and I caught more than 80 tarpon in two days of fishing. From one kilo to 7 kilos in weight.
We also caught several small snook, tenguayacas, catfish, mojarras and even a crab that got stuck in one of Juan's trolling lines. We couldn't believe what happened, and we can say that it has been one of the best catches of our lives".

By airplane arriving at the capital of Tabasco, Villahermosa. Villahermosa International Airport receives daily flights from Houston, Texas; Mexico City; Tampico, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Cd. del Carmen, Merida, Cancun and Havana, Cuba. These flights are operated by the main airlines.
The distance between Villahermosa and the municipality of Frontera is 1 km, one hour and 40 minutes.
